back
and forth
The
tango originated at the end of
the 19th century when European
immigrants went looking for
work in Buenos Aires in
Argentina. Along with seasonal
workers they stayed in
conventillos, a type of
barracks. However, many of
them found no job and rushed
into the music. This music
also blended with the one of
the descendants of the black
slaves.
In the opposite direction and a hundred years later, the young Argentine, Enrique 'Kike' Noviello from Buenos Aires, packed his bandoneon and saxophone and travelled to Europe, in search of a job. Together with other passionate migrants looking for work, he lived in squatted buildings. Their music melted, even with the sounds of the metropolis. |
the
next generation of tango
With
this spirit of the
‘tangueros’, Enrique ' Kike'
Noviello builds the next
generation of ' tango '. His
brand: the most radical tango
fusion outfit on the scene,
creating a complete new sound
with its amalgam of tango,
jazz, hip-hop, rock and Latin
dance music styles.
Languishing and splashing like tango, provocative like the novel by Juan Carlos Onetti which lent the band its name, the end result is always captivating music, as we’ve never heard before: the perfect blend of traditional tango orchestras and the rebelliousness of today’s scene. |
